The Lazarus GP2 squad has announced that Italian Kevin Giovesi will test for them next week at Jerez, alongside Rene Binder, who has been previously confirmed by the team for the 2013 season.

Giovesi, 19, graduated from karting in 2009, winning the Formula Lista Junior title that year. In 2010, he made his debut in Italian F3 with BVM, finishing 15th in the regular season. Giovesi stayed in the series for 2011, joining Lucidi Motors, and picked up two wins on his way to seventh in the standings.

In 2012, Giovesi ran in two F3 categories simultaneously, running a part-time campaign in Italian F3 (where he won four races in 14) and taking part in the “Copa F308” class of European F3 Open. The Italian particularly impressed in the latter, taking the Copa title with ease, but also fighting his way to sixth in the regular standings, despite the inferior machinery.

At the end of 2012, Giovesi tested with Lazarus at both Barcelona and Jerez, regularly making it into the top ten and finishing the opening day at the latter in third. Having impressed the team there he has been retained into the new year and looks set for a race seat with the squad.
