Mucke Motorsport

Mucke Motorsport were seemingly heading into a rather difficult year in 2013, up against a strengthened grid in the FIA F3 European Championship and losing Pascal Wehrlein to an unexpected last-minute call-up to the DTM. That left the experienced but somewhat inconsistent Felix Rosenqvist in charge of challenging Prema, but the Swede seemed completely at ease with the orange car, managing consistent frontrunning pace. While the Italians ran the show during the opening rounds, the Mucke ? Rosenqvist combination suddenly became the pacesetters. The Swede didn’t miss out on the top ten once since Monza and picked up and was easily the most reliable podium finisher of the final five rounds. He also scored a stunning ten victories and kept the title fight alive until the penultimate race.

Their efforts in their homeland entry-level series ? ADAC Formel Masters ? were also supremely eye-catching. The championship saw plenty of teams challenge at the front this year, but Mucke were pretty much the only ones to be ever-present. The duo of Picariello and Gunther picked up all but three feature race poles of the season. The Belgian cruised to the title, putting on dominant performances weekend after weekend. Meanwhile, Gunther’s phenomenal one-lap pace allowed him to secure a Mucke one-two in the standings. While the two were the main factor in winning the teams’ title, sophomore ADAC racer Hendrik Grapp made it three race winners for the German squad this season.

It wasn’t a perfect year ? Rosenqvist’s heroics were not supported by the other cars, as the other three drivers didn’t have the best of years. Yet, when it comes right down to it, a title challenge in a continental championship and absolute dominance in a highly-rated national one is makes for one very respectable year for Mucke.
